Much has been written about how to tackle health issues by what you eat and raising your level of activity. The Belly Fat Cure by Jorge Cruise is a great book that really simplifies this philosophy.
Cruise believes that the ultimate solution to curbing obesity is to make healthy eating and being active an every day priority in your life. He also believes that you must take matters into our own hands (instead of waiting for the world to change) and begin to improve your health in simple and achievable ways.
How to Curb Obesity by Minimizing Sugar and Carbs
Cruise believes that controlling our intake of sugar and processed carbohydrates is the best way to eliminate the belly fat that increases your risk of many health issues including weight gain, obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and hormonal imbalance.
He has an eating plan that is both pleasurable and healthy. While no foods are off limits, but incorporating them into your daily eating can make a big difference in making that belly fat disappear forever.
So, What’s the Trick?
For many years, we’ve been fed the wrong information about controlling weight with eating less and exercising more. Yes– you still need to exercise, but all the exercise in the world will not help you to lose weight unless you change the way you look at food.
Cruise’s Carb Swap plan can help you meet your weight loss goals while eating well. Here are the basic tenants of his plan:
- You can’t get fat if you keep your insulin under control.
- Getting rid of sweeteners and processed carbs will lower your insulin and get rid of belly fat.
- Never miss breakfast.
- Eating good carbs, which are high in fibre, are essential to losing belly fat.
- Do not deprive yourself if you are hungry. Just eat the right kinds of food. For example, a handful of nuts will fill you up with high quality protein and good fats.
- Limit your sugar intake to 15 grams each day. We are not programmed to process more than that; any extra will be stored as belly fat.
- Eat no more than 6 servings of whole grain complex carbohydrates each day. This will keep your insulin levels low but allow you to eat the carbs you love that will give you the nutrients to keep you healthy.
- Fats and proteins don’t significantly drive up insulin levels, so they are not tracked. The best choices for protein are lean meat, and the best fats are non- hydrogenated oils like olive oil, flax, egg yolks and raw butter.
For more information on this, The Belly Fat Cure has a complete chart of foods with their sugar and carbohydrate gram counts, as well as the fibre content of all foods.

- Get rid of the excess sugar in your diet.
- Eat whole grain complex carbohydrates from whole food sources.
- Eat quality protein every time you eat.
- Add good fats into your diet.
- Eat at regular intervals, especially if you are hungry.
